A World of Literature
Texts from the Ancient World Through the Early Modern Era
A World of Literature is an introduction to world literature focusing on the study of Asian, Middle Eastern, and European (including classical Greek and Roman) literature from ancient texts to writings of the early modern era. This course is designed a little bit like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" when it comes to discussing and writing about the selected works. Students have the opportunity to select the theme(s) they want to focus on for the semester. The themes explored in this course include coming of age, death and rebirth, ethics and morality, heroes and their shadows, love and hate, power and obsession, the role of women, and society and culture.
